Weather & Climate: The weather in Corfu differs from the rest of the Greek Islands and Mainland Greece. While it is sunny, warm and dry in the summer, the winter months are characterized by a fair amount of rainfall and humidity, although they are quite mild as well. The humidity and rainfall are what make Corfu, and the rest of the Ionian Islands, lush with vegetation. As Corfu weather tends to be a little cooler than other regions of Greece, it is recommended that visitors have a light jacket handy in the evening. In July and August, the prevailing wind is the Mistral, which is a calm, north-western wind.
Electricity: The main supply is 220 volts A.C.
Currency: The local currency is the Euro.
Public Health conditions: Hospital facilities, both public and private, are of good standard.
Banks: Banks are normally open between 08:00 am to 02:30 pm from Monday to Friday. International bankcards are accepted and foreign currency is easily exchanged. ATMs and exchange bureaus can be found all over the islands. Most businesses accept credit cards.
Telecommunications: New communication technologies are widely available. Local mobile phone companies have roaming agreements with the major international operators. Card operated telephone boxes can be found all over the island.
Shopping: Shops are normally open between 09:00 am to 09:00 pm. In tourist areas many shops remain open till midnight.
