The west coast of Paxos is typical of the Ionian
Islands - towering white limestone cliffs drop down abruptly to a wild and
rocky shore, defying human exploration, but home to noisy colonies of sea
birds, seals and dolphins.
Sculptural rock formations conceal massive caves
that have often, in the past sheltered boats hiding from pirates that once
infested these waters.
The cliffs above Erimitis Bay are dotted with
magnificent viewpoints, and at one of them, not far from Bogdanatika, is the
'Sunset Cafe', highly recommended for an evening visit to watch the sunset.
