Corfu Old Town

Corfu town is a joy to discover with its surprisingly unspoiled old town as well as excellent shopping. Take your time to explore this unrivalled mixture of Venetian, French, and British-influenced buildings.
One of the most attractive cities in the whole of Greece with its elegant arcades, narrow Venetian style streets and a very relaxed friendly atmosphere it is definitely a must for all.
The St Spyridon Church is a beautiful church that holds the relics of the Saint himself, during the Venetian period the Saint\'s relics were carried through the streets in commemoration of the fact that he cured the town of the plague, and the same for today when St Spyridon is carried through the streets at Easter time.
You will find further evidence of Corfu\'s historic past just by wandering through the streets of the old and new town which hold a mixture of architecture and cultures.
A stroll up either of the two dominating Venetian fortresses that still remain today is well worth the effort for the panoramic views, remember to take your camera.
As you wander through the back streets of the old town you will find a vast number of gift, leather and jewellery shops for bargains to be had by all.
To finish off your day why not take a time out and have drink or snack at one of "The Liston’s" many restaurants and watch the day go by or a cricket match if you’re lucky.
