Kite surfing |
Kite Surfing is the most extreme, fast –growing new sport, bringing unimaginable sensation on the water as well as on the air. It is a combination of windsurfing, waveboarding, surfing, skating, snowboarding and paragliding. It could, in a way, be the continuation of windsurfing. The rider uses a small boat which is connected with long ropes to a kite. The basic characteristic of kite surfing is the added power of the pull of the kite from above, which the rider can use, in order to perform high jumps and impressive manoeuvres. Kite surfing is the only sport offering the uniqueness of a 3rd dimension and it can be performed easier than most other water-sports. The new extreme sport can be practiced in Chalikounas beach in the southwestern part of Corfu island but it is mainly hosted in Mylos beach in Lefkas, where “Kite Surf Open Races” are organised every summer.
