The high line of hills extending parallel to the western coastline, topples towards the sea to a series of steep bays, or creates beaches small and big in a masterly way.
The vast flat agricultural extent of the Ropa meadow is the region that meets with the hills to the east. There, a number of traditional villages have developed.
A sparsely populated place, it is overgrown with olive groves crossed by rural roads and paths. Here the rambler will find routes of unbelievable beauty into the surrounding nature. The entire landscape looks as if it’s been standing there unchanged since the beginning of time so as to offer its gifts to the visitor: stunning vistas to the whole west coast and the island’s inland. An area ideal for rambling, mountain bike and, for the more daring, parapente falling from the Ai Giorgis summit above Vatos village.
